A rich, sublime coffee grown on exalted grounds.
Two centuries ago, King Kamehameha of Hawaii walked these sun-drenched slopes of Mauna Loa as part of his royal lands. Today, they are owned by John Parry. While archaeologists carefully protect the king's legacy on historical sites throughout the property, Mr. Parry tends the rest of the land to grow a sublime coffee.
The coffee presents itself with lush floral and caramel aromas, followed by pronounced citrus and nut flavors in the tasting. The island's ideal growing conditions, combined with Mr. Parry's meticulous care during growing and processing, have created a memorable 100% Kona coffee - rich, smooth, delicious.
Although this arabica coffee is from a lower elevation than we typically see in high-quality lots, Kona has a distinctive pattern of sunny mornings followed by cooler, cloudier afternoons as the Pacific trade winds blow in. This rhythm creates an ideal microclimate for producing the island's justifiably famous beans.
