The Kopi Luwak Coffee aroma is rich and strong, and the coffee is incredibly full bodied, almost syrupy. It's thick with a hint of chocolate, and lingers on the tongue with a long, clean aftertaste. It's the most expensive and rarest coffee in the world and limited supplies are are grown each year. Due to the rarity and expensive price there are no refunds or exchanges available on this coffee unlike other Volcanica Coffees. I raved about Kopi after my first tasting last year. It was smooth and rich with a wonderful caramel finish I had never experienced before. Since then I have had five other batches from two different vendors. Each of these later coffees were very disappointing. One vendor even sent a replacement bag (worth $80) after I gave a negative review to "renew your faith in Kopi". But I have never had a Kopi Luwak as good as that first one. When I am going to spend this amount of money on coffee, or anything else for that matter, I'm going to need to know I am getting consistent quality of product and that is definitely not the case here. I just received a 100 gram bag as a gift from a friend and it was the most disappointing of all. I get better Sumatran coffee from my local roaster for $12 lb. I'm glad to say I've had the experience of trying the most expensive coffee in the world, but I won't be buying any more.

I bought a pound of this and it was good, but kind of expensive. so I bought a couple of dwarf coffee plants, a civet cat, and a litter box, but it didn't work out so well. The cat won't eat the coffee berries and won't use the litter box. I have to say though, even without the coffee beans the cat crap makes a nice cuppa joe.

Here's the lowdown on the disgusting method of 'production' of this unnecessary item:Kopi luwak is made from the beans of coffee berries that have been eaten and excreted by the Asian palm civet. A PETA Asia investigator visited civet coffee farms in Indonesia and the Philippines, two of the world's top producers of kopi luwak.Undercover footage from these farms--some of which falsely advertise their coffee as "wild-sourced"--shows sick, depressed civets suffering from infections and exhibiting signs of zoochosis, a stress-induced neurotic condition that causes captive animals to spin, pace, and bob their heads in constant frantic displays of frustration.This coffee can be found in various stores, including at Amazon.com. Please don't support the cruelty of kopi luwak coffee. If you would like to help, contact Amazon.com representatives and tell them about the suffering that civets endure for this product.Thank you for your compassion.Sincerely,PETA
